Science Teacher

I have seven years of teaching experience, but have also worn many other hats, such as landscaper, garden coordinator, housekeeper, full time mom/homemaker, and single mom. I have always loved science and nature and grew up wanting to know the answers to so many questions. My curiosity and desire to be always learning and creating, and my love of children are the reasons I chose to become a teacher.

Some of my favorite things to study and collect are rocks and minerals and shells. All my life I have picked up rocks everywhere I go, even hiking down mountains with huge ones! I also have a long standing love of astronomy. As a kid I wondered about questions like how many stars are there in the universe; how big is the universe; does it ever end? And if it ends what is outside of it? Before my science teacher training I earned a degree in philosophy. I love philosophy because it gets at the meaning of life, and what is a good life, and other really important questions. I could never be bored with it, but I wanted to do something more “real world,” working with people, so this is another reason I chose teaching.

Two of my most loved free-time activities are gardening and making art. I love to make jewelry with beads and stones and shells and metals. I have also always loved plants and it is my dream to have a home with a big beautiful garden.
